Mr. Corbett is a member of the firm’s real estate transactions team, representing clients on a broad range of real estate transactions involving commercial, residential, common interest developments, retail and land deals. His areas of concentration include property acquisition and disposition, development deals, commercial and residential leasing, CC&Rs, bylaws, rules and regulations for residential and commercial owners’ associations, TIC agreements, shoring and underpinning agreements, easement and license agreements, lot line adjustments, construction contracts, transferable development rights agreements, financing agreements and a variety of deed work.

Mr. Corbett has a specialized focus on subdivision and condominium law, advising clients of the legal requirements and regulations imposed on residential and commercial common interest developments. This area of expertise extends to all stages of development and operations germane to condominium projects, from subdivision and mapping requirements under California’s Subdivision Map Act to day-to-day operational issues confronting owners’ associations. Mr. Corbett’s practice also reflects a thorough command of the statutory frameworks established under the Davis-Stirling Act and the Commercial and Industrial Common Interest Development Act, as well as the regulatory scheme of California’s Department of Real Estate. For new condo projects, this deep expertise allows Mr. Corbett to assist developer clients in the formation of legal entities for a project’s initial declarant and owners’ association, preparation of governing documents (such as CC&Rs, bylaws and association rules and regulations), and the processing of Public Report applications, when required, and the DRE’s approval and issuance of the same. For existing and operating condo projects, Mr. Corbett represents owners’ associations and/or its members with governance and compliance issues, such as making necessary amendments to governing documents to account for changes in law, and participating in dispute resolution proceedings.

Mr. Corbett’s practice also extends to corporate governance and compliance issues related to formation and organizational matters for companies with real estate interests and holdings.  Examples of this area of focus include preparing articles of organization/incorporation, company bylaws, operating agreements, shareholder agreements, board resolutions and other forms of corporate agreements and contracts.

Mr. Corbett is a 2013 graduate of the Golden Gate University School of Law, where he was the recipient of the CALI Excellence award for Secured Transactions. He is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science.
